• WHOO6051Annual TRCA FALL Block Party

We couldn't have had better weather for this year's TRCA Fall Block Party! It was a perfect day - maybe even a little too warm as some children had to shed their costumes to cool off. Thank you to those who attended and contributed to another successful party! We are grateful for your participation and generous dedication to TRCA through your annual dues. At least 150 neighbors were in attendance and donated $1800 to the TRCA scholarship fund and future events. If you haven't yet paid your annual dues ($20 a year/household), you can pay online.

Our talented neighborhood photographer, Vincent Penoso, captured the fun here!

Alexandria Cyclist Crash Victim Needs Your Help

Alexandria resident, MacArthur parent, and cyclist Ryan Brown was severely injured in a crash on Thursday, May 5th.  Ryan was thrown 50 feet, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He also broke a leg, shoulder and three vertebrae. He has spent the past 4+ months at GW University Hospital and the National Rehabilitation Hospital. He was discharged in September but faces many
more months of recovery with therapy. You can read more about his recovery on the family's YouCaring website

Until now, Ryan's accumulated annual leave and sick time have covered his absence from work. However, he will soon have
used up all the time he had accrued at the time of the crash and the family will have to consider a longer term disability arrangement, which would mean they would lose their health insurance. Here is where you can help! As an employee of the federal government, Ryan can accept donations of annual leave from the other federal government employees to continue covering his absence during his recovery. Employees can donate up to half of the amount of leave accrued annually and can make a request for an exception to donate more. Please contact Maeve O'Connor at mao2702@gmail.com or Jessica, Ryan's wife, at jessi77@mac.com if you have any questions, or if you are able to help.

  • IMG 5537-SCelebrate National Night Out with TRCA

Neighbors in the Taylor Run area are invited to participate with many other neighborhoods across the country in celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016. National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Alexandria Police Department.

Residents in neighborhoods throughout Alexandria and across the nation are asked to lock their doors,
turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighbors in and around
the Taylor Run area are invited to come down to Angel Park from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a fun potluck
and to meet with local police and fire personnel. There will be food donated by TRCA and local businesses (Rocklands, Zpizza, Trader Joes, Noodles & Company, Popped!Republic, and more), but we ask everyone to bring a side dish or a dessert.
Public health and safety organizations will be  onsite with demonstrations and giveaways. This event is FREE and open to the public. COME CELEBRATE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD!
